835 Medical Banking Examples
View two versions of the 835 EDI file in human readable formats:

1. The "provider" 835 version is an example of the type of 835 transaction a payer would generate and send to a provider. The 835 includes both explanation of benefits (EOB)/electronic remittance advice (ERA) as well as electronic fund transfer or payment information.
2. The "financial institution" version is an example of a file that may be sent from a payer to a bank. The 835 is stripped of EOB/ERA information and protected healthcare information (PHI) is de-identified. The payment information necessary for generating an electronic fund transfer is the only informtion provided in this version of the 835.
